Working Towards a K-4 2024 Opening
adding a grade each consecutive year up to 12th Grade

               Meet the Founding Team

"I have a BA in psychology from SUNY at Buffalo. I had a career working in residential treatment facilities and out-patient mental health programs. I provided contract work with probation, in homes/schools providing clinical evaluation, advocacy, and supervision of direct care workers in contract with child protective services. I spent 17 years working in mental health with children/families, before resigning to stay home full-time with my six children. While raising them, I spent a great deal of volunteer time at schools. I see the deficits, as well as what works, and feel strongly about the need for classical education for all children. I have visited multiple charter schools in the area and outside New York State. I have been recruiting board members and educating the community about classical education. I believe in the FLCACS mission whole-heartedly and am dedicated to making it happen in our community."

"As a teacher with my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction development, I understand and appreciate the importance of the education of children. My responsibility as an educator of the arts is to provide creative outlets for students through
responsive, evolving, robust opportunities and experiences in and out of the classroom.
Students need to respect themselves and others, and to practice life-long learning in an ever-
changing, richly diverse global society. There is no one size fits all. The school choice options in Cayuga County are limited. I believe in the value of a classical liberal arts option for families."

"I graduated from Hillsdale College in December of 2000 with a BA in History, a Spanish minor, and a K-5 teaching certificate. While I was a student at Hillsdale I worked as a research assistant in the History Department.  I studied E.D. Hirsch, explicit phonics instruction, problems in education, educational philosophy and educational psychology under the Education Department. I loved my Hillsdale experience and my time spent observing at the Hillsdale Academy, but found it difficult to find a similar education for my children in Central NY. I began to homeschool and assist other local homeschool families in 2003. I am still homeschooling 3 of our five children and have helped many others learn to homeschool with the classical method. I was the Director of Veritas Homeschool Cooperative for five years, where I also taught. I am currently Co-Director of Redeeming Mondays Cooperative in Liverpool, NY, which currently serves over 65 families and over 150 students. I believe very strongly in the idea of spreading classical education as far as possible throughout the broken American education system and I will put all of my background and skills to work to help achieve those ends in Auburn, NY."

"As a mother of three and a former classroom teacher, I firmly believe in the value of school choice. I had the priviledge of enjoying numerous years in the classroom as an English teacher. I then began to learn about grant writing. This peaked my interest and I began to pursue the business side of education. I am currently completing my certification in business leadership and am the CFO at a city charter school. I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this important mission, especially at the foundational level. I am confident my knowledge and years of experience will be an asset to its success. For the sake of the children, the lack of school choice in the rural areas of upstate New York needs to be addressed."

"I graduated from Nazareth College in 2017 with a BS in Business Administration with a focus in accounting. Since then I have been working at Cornell University as an Account Representative creating financial reports, tracking salary expenditures, and submitting grant proposals. I reside with my family in a rural district of Cayuga County where I have lived my entire life.  My skill set includes technological assistance and website management, along with my finance and accounting background. I have been surrounded by high level academics my whole life and believe a strong alternative is needed in my community."

"My first career was homeschooling my four sons K-12, utilizing the Robinson Curriculum and resources from Veritas Press. Classical Education was the basis of enriching my own children’s lives and I will look forward to being able to promote this charter in my own community. I have worked diligently to communicate the importance of school choice with the multitude of people my job connects me with. I am currently the Deputy Commissioner of the Board of Elections, former President of the Women’s Republican Club and Chair of the County Republican Committee. I firmly believe in School Choice for parents and children and in the Finger Lakes Classical model and its mission. As a parent of adult children rooted in this community and school-age grandchildren, I am invested in creating a school that will offer the best in education with a rigorous, classical liberal arts education.""

"As a teacher for almost 20 years, I have taught mathematics to kindergarteners through
professional engineers. My doctoral dissertation on partial differential equations spanned topics in numerical methods, parameter estimation, and asymptotic analysis. Currently, I use data to systematically investigate the Foundation Aid Formula and to find equitable school funding options for all students. I am committed to improving the American experience for children, families, and immigrants. I have taught U.S. Citizenship classe, led nonpublic school families to Albany for National School Choice Week’s legislative day, and administered support to organizations that help mothers and their young children. Through these efforts, I have hope in our nation and the next generation."

"I practiced as a clinician with a degree in art therapy working with children of all abilities and diagnoses. Through my work I have been hired as a consultant to help schools in providing the needs of a child by meeting them at their individual abilities and implementing accommodations. My more recent management position serves at-risk youth and families which includes providing advocacy/support to develop the child and family’s ability to collaborate with schools to meet the students educational needs. I look forward to being a part of this development in which a safe and well-rounded environment will be created to further establish and maintain effective collaboration between school, families and community to meet the needs of its students through classical education."

Our founding board is growing and looking for strong people of integrity who care about their community and our children's education.
